The CO2 Extinguisher Cannisters contain carbon dioxide in liquid form, and when the extinguisher is let off the liquid is released into the air neutralising the oxygen that the fire is feeding on, disabling the fires ability to spread. This is an effective way to put out fires and also prevent fire from reoccurring because of the lack of oxygen and the ice cold temperature of the CO2 when released from the extinguisher.
Being harmless to electrical equipment these extinguishers are ideal for offices ,workshops or any premises that uses electrical equipment.
It is vital that any CO2 Extinguisher you buy has a frost free horn. CO2 Gas, when released from an extinguisher, is ice cold.
If holding the horn of a non-frost free horn, when using a CO2 extinguisher your horn and your hand will become frozen causing serious injury.
Frost Free horns are designed to withstand the freezing gas, and can be held by the user. It is recommended that you do not hold the horn of any CO2 extinguisher in case it is not frost free.

When it is time to use the extinguisher on a fire, just remember PASS!
Pull the pin.
Aim the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire from the recommended safe distance.
Squeeze the operating lever to discharge the fire extinguishing agent.
Starting at the recommended distance, Sweep the nozzle or hose from side to side until the fire is out. Move forward or around the fire area as the fire diminishes. Watch the area in case of re-ignition.
